MESSAGE TO PARENTS: As parents, God gives us the primary responsibility of teaching the Word to our children (Deut 6:4-9). Our children's ministry offers solid foundations for you to learn from and build upon, as you carry that responsibility. Join us as we build community together, worship the Lord through song, study his word, and learn how to become a bit more like Jesus everyday. f you would like to know more specifics about how we do ministry, please review the information below.

SUNDAY MORNING: Sunday mornings are designed to be focused on outreach and community connection. We design the service to include a mix of high energy worship, bible teaching, personal challenges, and hands-on projects. We would love to have parents join us for this service, and maybe even participate in it!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Wednesday nights are designed to be focused on spiritual growth. We approach this service with a strong emphasis on bible storytelling, community building, prayer, and hands-on projects.

VISION: to see “Every child become a bit more like Jesus, every day” (Matthew 28:16-20). As we move forward with our vision in mind our current ministry mission is to be a- “Creative, Christ-centered, Community for Kids”.

The Refuge Family Kids ministry team believes that children's ministry should be approached with a high level of intentionality and love. As we go about the ministry the Lord has given us, we hold ourselves accountable to these biblically based values :

SAFETY: Our highest value is on providing a safe community for children and families to learn and grow in the understanding and wisdom of Christ. We require that volunteers go through a detailed interview and background check to ensure that those who serve are here to help and not harm our children. Additionally, we have security measures posted at all entrances. (Matthew 18:6)

REACHING OUT: We reach out by being understanding of, and actively engaging in culture, BUT NOT COMPROMISING it in the truth of God’s word. Understanding and actively engaging children means seeking an understanding of their values, influences, and challenges. Just as Christ used cultural norms of the day to convey the secrets of heaven to his disciples, we will use the means of cultural norms and obstacles, as opportunities for evangelizing. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

CONNECTING  WITH: We desire that our children and families are connected with each other. Developing extended community is crucial in the life of a believer as it leads to proper accountability, spiritual growth, and reminds us that we are not alone in our journey to become more like Jesus. (Hebrews 10:25)

SERVING OTHERS: We love to see members of our family get involved in the ministry. We offer opportunities for children and families to get involved and develop what we believe the Lord is calling us to do. By utilizing the gifts, skills, and talents, God has given individuals we get to see what it means to be the body of Christ as we serve together.  (1 Corinthians 12:12-31)

GROW: We grow by the teaching of God’s word, giving wise counsel, modeling Christ-like actions, and challenging the children and each other to “become a bit more like Jesus every day”.

Jesus is the water, we are the tree, the fruit is what we do.
id you know that scripture is filled with abstract metaphors? One of the most commonly use metaphors is that of water, trees, and fruit. The metaphor is used by the Poets, the Prophets, Paul, and Christ. It is used to explain the nature of Gods Spirit and word (water), our connection with that Spirit (trees), and the natural result of that connection (fruit).

The Bits are cartoon character representations of the spiritual fruit found in Galatians 5:22-23. They are designed to be used as tools that help children understand the abstract thought of spiritual fruit in a fun creative way. The imaginary world they live in uses the biblical metaphor of water, trees, and fruit to help explain the spiritual nature of the Christian faith.

We encourage you to use these characters and their abstract world as a fun connection tool to open up conversations with your children about Christ, our need for him, and our responsibility as believers.
